Coaching a group , albeit a small one , requires specific skills as no two golfers have the same styles or swings !
James has always been able , in his quiet manner, to instruct the whole group , remaining inclusive of all . As practise continues he is then very effective at modifying skills to suit each individual. He is encouraging and supportive of all.
Coached individually, James watches the shot , quickly ascertains fault and is particularly adept at providing a solution which is " do able ". He is never too verbose or technical , rather demonstrates and suggests a way forward.
James has a calm , friendly and open teaching style . He is non critical and shows interest after his coaching sessions providing lots of encouragement.

James has many strengths which meld together to make learning golf with him exciting and fun, encouraging his pupils to practise frequently and strive for their best within a welcoming environment. He is a hard worker, demonstrated both in the pro shop and teaching, knowledgeable of skills and equipment. I also like the example he sets, looking to improve his own awareness and playing skills, sharing and receiving feedback from fellow professionals too.
James’ positive attitude and communication skills have really made the difference to my son believing in himself. He gives clear and fair feedback, building on each Junior’s skills and helping them understand where to improve. All done in a way that shares his real passion and understanding of the game of golf; Client’s learn so much more from James on top of the technical skills.
James teaches successfully both in group and individual lessons. He can tailor the lesson to allow for a variety of levels in a group, with everyone learning at their own pace. His individual lessons are focussed and energetic and, with practise, his advice nearly always results in an improvement in competition play! His knowledge and teaching of course management has been invaluable to my son.
Another worthy credit for James is that he has explained the mysteries and rewards of golf to me, a ‘non-golfing parent’, motivating me to support my son and the club.
An anecdote I’d like to share, I asked my son today “What is good about James?” and he replied “Everything!”.
